Responsibilities for this position include:

·         Assist in significant tax planning issues and prepare and review corporate tax returns.

·         Research tax situations as needed.

·         Contribute to client satisfaction by providing timely and effective responses to client needs and concerns.

·         Demonstrate an understanding of tax concepts and effectively apply tax knowledge to client situations.

·         Develop and deliver quality and timely services and work products that meet or exceed customer expectations.

·         Participate in client meetings and work within a team environment to deliver fully integrated services to clients.

·         Advise companies and individuals on tax implications in order to obtain an optimal tax minimization strategy.

·         Demonstrate an understanding of complex tax concepts and effectively apply tax knowledge to client situations.

·         Develop and deliver quality tax planning approaches with timely and responsive services and work products that meet or exceed customer expectations.

·         Build client relationships and demonstrate knowledge of client business and situations.

·         Help to develop and guide staff by providing effective feedback.

·         Identify and sell tax planning and other services. 

·         Build on technical competence by keeping up to date on trends, developments and technical authorities and apply them appropriately.

·         Keep team members informed of work status, actively seeking assignments. 

 

Qualified candidates should have a CPA license, Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field and 3+ years experience within a public accounting firm.  Experience in all areas of tax planning and compliance preferred with a concentration in corporations trusts, and/or financial planning, working with high-net worth individuals and families, corporate executives and owners of closely held businesses is a plus.   Experience with international client issues is a plus.  All candidates must have excellent organization and attention to detail; strong communication and customer relation’s skills and the ability to work with and support team members.  Must be proficient in a Windows environment using Word and Excel. Experience with Lacerte (individual) and Prosystems Fx (corporate) is a plus.

Experience and Qualifications

  • CPA license in North Carolina required.
  • 8 to 12 years of public accounting experience required.
  • Manager or Senior Manager experience and responsibilities in a large regional or mid-sized firm
  • Significant experience providing tax compliance, planning, research, state and local taxes services, and developing staff.
  • Experience preparing and reviewing tax provisions and notes to the financial statements preferred
  • International experience is a plus.
  • Proficient with Microsoft outlook, word, excel, power point
  • Experience with CCH Practice, Prosystems  Fx (corporate) and Lacerte (individual) is a plus.

Mechanical CAD Designer II or III:

Location: Newport News, VA

For leading scientific institution in Newport News, Virginia. This is a contract position lasting from 6-18 months. Salary open. 

Job Objective:

The successful candidate will join the Physics and Mechanical Engineering team to support the design and upgrade efforts. Will be tasked to turn concepts and ideas into working assemblies and component systems. The position calls for a mechanical designer who is experienced and has a proven track record in designing complex assemblies such as electro-magnets, testing apparatus, machine components, vacuum equipment, cryogenics, and electro-mechanical devices.

The designer will perform 3-D modeling, assembling, and detailed fabrication drawings. He or she will work directly with engineers and physicists and must be an effective communicator and a team participant.

Position Requirements:

  • At least 5 years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and experience in the engineering and design field
  • Broad knowledge of 2D and 3D software and drawing interpretation. Produce and interpret fabrication drawing using geometric tolerances
  • Must be proficient in NX-IDEAS (SDRC) Modeler.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in ME-10 and / or Unigraphics NX
  • Experience in a National Laboratory or R&D environment
  • Unique experience relevant to systems and technologies utilized in the Lab's Physics projects.
  • Ability to do basic engineering analysis

 CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER

GENERAL FUNCTION: Directs accounting practices and the maintenance and preparation of fiscal records for a division of the Company. Has overall responsibility for general and property accounting, cost accounting, budgetary controls and, in some cases, data processing functions. Reports to CEO and COO.

 

TYPICAL DUTIES:

Selects, assigns, instructs and supervises controllers, accounting managers, accountants, and accounting support personnel.

Administers Division general and cost accounting, property accounting, internal audit and records retention programs.

Maintains controls to ensure Company/Division policies and procedures are being followed.

Assumes responsibility for correct and accurate accounting classification of Division expenditures and documents, including capital and others.

Acts as an immediate division contact with the Company’s auditors and governmental auditors on accounting matters.

Develops inventory control procedures affecting division operations, and is responsible for taking physical inventories.

Interprets operating results as they affect Division financial aspects and makes specific recommendations which will result in cost reductions and profit improvement.

 

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

Master's degree and CPA license required.

8-10 years experience in either in the manufacturing or marine field.

Comprehensive knowledge of accounting theory and practices, and computerized accounting systems. Considerable knowledge of company accounting policies and procedures, or the ability to acquire it quickly.

 

DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE & TRAINING:

Experience in dealing with a foreign owned company a plus. 

Completion of four years of college level course work with major emphasis in accounting and extensive general accounting experience combined with supervisory experience; or any combination of experience and training which results in the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
